Birth: 1897 Douglas Park, NSW, Australia Death: 22 July 1916 (age 19) 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, France, Died of Wounds Cemetery or Memorial: Estaires Communal Cemetery, France Father: David James BAXTER (1859 - 1938) Mother: Frances FARTHING (1855 - 1936) Cecil was educated at Burwood Public School. He gave his occupation as Carrier when he enlisted 16 February 1916 at Bathurst, and his next of kin his father David James Baxter of Oxford Street, Burwood. Cecil was serving in A Company 40th Battalion (Burwood) Citizen Forces and raised his age by 3 years when enlisting. He served in the 53rd and 56th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney on the 'Ceramic' 14 April 1916 and arrived France via Egypt May 1916. Private Cecil James BAXTER died at the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station in France from multiple wounds received in action 22 July 1916 age 19.
